2013 Retrospective

Wow! Once again it’s time to look back over the year – and what a special one it’s been! I simply cannot believe it’s 12 months since we and friends gathered in our little lounge drinking Prosecco and cheap champagne (quietly for the sake of our 4 week old sleeping soundly upstairs). And now we have a gorgeous and cheeky little walking monkey with his own funny personality, who, along with our older two children, takes up so much of our time (and money)! Though of course, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Family life is simply amazing.

As for my job, things just couldn’t be better. Photography is as much my passion as my vocation. I’m fortunate to get so many compliments about my photography, but in reality it’s you, the wonderful brides and grooms who make my photos really special. Like every year, our amazing couples over the past season have gone to so much effort in the planning process to make their wedding day extra special with all those added little touches. These are my favourite photos. The shots of the things that often get overlooked. The personalised bunting that your aunt painstakingly sewed together with every spare moment she had. The buttonholes and flowers and colours that you deliberated over for weeks. The tiny but beautifully elegant or rustic name tags that you pictured over and over in your head for months on end. All these finer details that often seem so small – are so, so important to bringing your wedding day together in a very special collaboration of the two of you and your own personal tastes.

And then there’s all those really big moments, the desperately special ones that you really, really don’t want forgotten. The look on Dad’s face as his daughter steps out as a beautiful bride. The groom’s first mouth dropping glimpse over his shoulder. The swapping of the rings during those intimate moments of promise and love for each other. Or maybe even the rare family gathering spanning 5 generations and those cherished moments with baby. These are the loveliest moments that are over in seconds but you will treasure forever.

Thank you to all of you who have allowed me to share those moments with you – here are some of my favourites from 2013!
